Van Ness Physical Therapy, a division of Asian Network, was founded in 2006 by Keith Wong, PT, MBA, and Ivy Kwong, PT, MPA, DPT. Our vision is to provide comprehensive, individualized, goal-oriented programs that will enhance client's lifestyles through physical therapy, conditioning, and wellness

 

Keith Lew Wong, PT, MBA- Clinic Director

Mr. Wong was born and raised in San Francisco. After attending Lowell High School, he graduated with a BS in physical therapy from Long Beach State in 1999. His work experiences included time at Asian Network, Los Altos Rehab Center and San Jose Medical Center. In 2001, Keith moved to Baltimore, where he worked at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, specializing in ergonomics and work rehab. He also went to business school, and graduated with an MBA from The University of Baltimore. In 2004, Keith returned to the Bay Area, and reunited with Asian Network and Ivy Kwong. He has been with Asian Network since, assisting with their home health care and outpatient services and operations. Van Ness Physical Therapy is another branch of Asian Network, and is the result of Asian Network's desire to give back to the community.

Ivy Kwong, PT, DPT, MPA

Ivy Kwong, PT, DPT, MPA received a Bachelor of Science degree in physical therapy from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri; her Doctor of Physical Therapy from Boston University, and a Master's degree in public administration from the University of San Francisco. She currenlty is the Director of Rehabilitation Services for Asian Network. She is licensed for practice in California and is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association. Her past experiences includes service as director of rehabilitation services at Hong Fook Adult Day Health Center , and senior therapist at Alta Bates Summit Medical Center .

In addition to being a physical therapist, Ms. Kwong was also a board member of the Foundation for Osteoporosis Research and Education (FORE). She participates in the FORE volunteer speakers bureau and gives lectures to community organizations to increase public awareness on osteoporosis. Ms. Kwong also collaborates with the Chinese American Physicians' Society to provide free blood screening for Hepatitis B.

She is a strong believer in an individual's responsibility to service and give back to one's community. She has participated in numerous community health fairs and fund raising events.

 

Romy Chan, PT, DPT, MS, OCS

Dr. Romy Chan is a native of Hong Kong . He has been a physical therapist for more than 15 years. For the past 12 years, he practiced primarily in the area of orthopaedics and sports physical therapy. His professional interests include exercise therapy for treatment of spinal dysfunction, biomechanics of the lower extremities and shoulder dysfunction.

Dr. Chan had his undergraduate education in physical therapy at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University . He then earned a Master of Science degree in physical therapy and a Doctorate degree in physical therapy from the Massachusetts Institute of Health Professions in Boston , MA . He has been a board certified clinical specialist in orthopaedic physical therapy from the American Physical Therapy Association since 1997. He has also completed a 3-month clinical residency mentorship program in advanced orthopaedic manual therapy at Kaiser Permanente in Hayward in 2000.

Having worked with athletes through the years, Dr. Chan believes prevention of injury is always better than cure. He encourages his patients to be active participants in therapy and to do specific therapeutic exercise program to stay well. He incorporates manual therapy and specific therapeutic exercises in his clinical practice.
